As I rushed out the door the next morning, my heel slid on a piece of paper. I reached down for it, noting that it was one of many. Bright red sheets blew along the sidewalk in the brisk wind, stuck out from behind mailbox flags, and had been slipped under windshield wipers.
Christian honked, even though he saw me, and I figured that had something to do with what was in my hand:
